Youth programme


The Executive Governor of Plateau State and chairman of the Northern Governor's Forum, Rt Hon (Dr) Simon Bako Lalong KSGG was at the official flag-off of the HYPPADEC in collaboration with her Technical Partner THE NEW APPROACH, The  Youth Transformation Program (YTP)  as well as the Code Plateau 3.0 official flag off.



The Governor was represented at the program which was held at the Banquet Hall of the New Government House Rayfield by the Secretary to the Government of the State (SGS) Prof Danladi Abok Atu.


In the Governors speech read by the SGS, Governor Lalong said he is delighted to flag off the Youth Transformation Program (YTP) as well as the code Plateau 3.0 an ICT youth empowerment program organized by the Plateau State Information and Communication Technology Development Agency (PICTDA).


Both programs mark the official commencement of the 20,000 youth empowerment programs that will be carried out by the Rescue Administration this year and is a confirmation of the determination by the Lalong led administration to create job opportunities for the youths.


The Governor said he is optimistic, with the mandate given to HYPPADEC more youths will be gainfully employed and more social amenities will be provided to the affected communities.

As such the Governor is grateful to President Muhammadu Buhari for ensuring the smooth take-off of HYPPADEC after it was established many years ago.


The Managing Director of HYPPADEC, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq Yelwa appreciated the Governor of Plateau State for the support the commission has received from the State and promise to deliver on the mandate given to the commission.


He went further to advise beneficiaries of the program to take their training seriously pointing out some of the programs by HYPPADEC in the State which include 300 youths being trained in various skills acquisition programs through the YTP.


He stated that the commission will set up Institutional centres in collaboration with the State Government to make training periodic. To intervene in the security challenges within the 3 HYPPADEC Local Government Areas of Bassa, Barkin Ladi and Bokkos, the Commission will provide motorcycles to help security actors in their duty to protect the lives and properties of citizens.


The managing director further announced the approval for the construction of 10 solar power pumps within the 3 affected local Government Areas as well as hand pumps to help provide portable drinking water to residents of the affected communities.


It can be recalled that the Youth Transformation Program (YTF) was officially flagged off on the 17th of March 2022 in Minna the Niger State Capital.


The official Flagging off of the Youth Transformation Program in Plateau State had in attendance, 7 Commissioners, 3 Executive Chairmen, 11 Permanent Secretaries, 3 special advisers and 5 Royal Fathers as well as the 500 beneficiaries from both the YTP and PICTDA Code Plateau.
